PANHANDLE CRIME PREVENTION KICK-OFF
Youth Crime Watch of Florida is a Youth-Led nonprofit organization designed to mobilize and equip youth with the skills, vision and tools to help them decrease crime in their schools and communities. To that end, Youth Crime Watch of Florida has planned a 10-day initiative that involves the entire community. Youth Crime Watch of America is in 28 states and 22 countries. Youth Crime Watch of Florida has 172 sites in Florida.
We are training 25 community people that consist of school personnel, community people, college students and one incredible middle school student. They will go through a two day training learning how to train schools and communities in starting and maintaining a Youth Crime Watch Site.
On the third day, several schools who want to be a Youth Crime Watch site will come to the college to be trained by these newly trained trainers on how to manage their Youth Crime Watch initiative.
Graduation of the community trainers will take place on October 31st from 3-5. Congressman Boyd has been asked to attend and speak at the graduation. They cannot give a firm commitment due to the fact that Election Day is only 4 days after the training. Schools committed to attend the training are: Nims Middle School, Fairview Middle School, Swift Creek Middle School. Others expected to attend are Bellview, Cob and Griffin Middle Schools.
If any middle or high school or community location would like to attend please, contact me at the above number or email.
If any person is interested in being trained please, contact me at the above number or email. We still have a few slots left.
I will also be in the area until November 8th to schedule trainings for schools and community locations who were not able to make this event. We will dispatch our newly trained trainers to locations simultaneously to facilitate the on-site training in Leon, Washington and Calhoun counties.
Youth Crime Watch of America is a national organization that has a proven record of preventing school shootings and other crimes in schools and local communities. 50,000 young people are taking leadership roles producing positive change. One thing the experts agree on is, increased safety allows for progress and a better learning environment.
